Compact shotgun stereo microphone for cameras with hot shoe and external microphone connection. Maximum attenuation of background noise from the side. Robust all-metal housing.
Beautiful stereo sound without side effects
The MKE 440 consists of two connected, tuned mini shotgun microphones. This means it captures exactly the sound you want. The stainless steel micro-mesh windscreen reduces wind noise without losing the fine high frequencies. The MKE 440 delivers a balanced stereo sound image and amplifies the sound source in the camera's focus.
The upgrade for your DSLR sound
A new, patented V-shaped arrangement of two directional microphones - this is Sennheiser's great solution for stereo recording with microphones connected to the camera's hot shoe. This configuration acoustically captures the same area as that covered by a 35 mm camera lens. The sensitivity is very uniform across the entire range, with particularly high speech intelligibility in the image focus.
What you see is what you hear
Directional microphones are not usually used to record stereo sound, which requires two microphones. As a result, many stereo videos sound less present and somewhat reverberant, with many noises from sources outside the picture being captured unattenuated.

Patented suspension against structure-borne noise
Microphones are generally susceptible to structure-borne noise, for example when the camera on which they are mounted is moved. This is why the MKE 440 is equipped with a specially developed, patented suspension. It is precisely tailored to the length and weight of the directional microphones and ensures optimal protection against structure-borne noise. The rubber elements of the suspension are attached to the inside of the protective micro-mesh.
Robust construction
A fine, very stable and durable mesh made of stainless steel protects the microphones and reduces wind noise. Unlike a normal foam windshield, it does not affect the clarity of the high frequency range. This means that the sound remains unchanged. It also protects against electromagnetic interference.
High dynamics
The integrated, battery-powered dynamic circuit adjusts the output signal of the MKE 440 to the sensitivity of the camera's audio input. This allows the MKE 440 to handle a dynamic range from the gentlest whisper to roaring rock music. The low frequency filter reduces both structure-borne noise and low frequency wind noise. The MKE 440 offers an extra-long operating time of more than 100 hours with a pair of AAA batteries, and it still delivers its full sound performance even when the battery level is low.
