Add this ground station module to your ground station computer to use Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) technology for centimeter-accurate horizontal and vertical positioning.
Alta X with F9P GPS installed (not compatible with Here2 GPS).
RTK Overview
RTK technology uses a pair of modules to increase positioning accuracy. One module is installed in the aircraft (this module is called the "rover"), the other is mounted on a tripod and connected to the ground station computer (the "ground station" module).
The Ground Station Module allows your ground station computer to send GPS corrections to the Rover Module (on the aircraft), increasing the accuracy from a few meters to a few centimeters, in real time.
Application
This kit contains a module, magnetic mounting material for common tripods (1/4" 20) and a USB cable. You will need this if you have the following:
1. An Alta X with F9P GPS (not Here2) and you want full RTK capability:
An RTK GPS ground station for your ground station computer
A radio to communicate between the ground station computer and the Alta (FRX Pro, etc)
A tripod or something sturdy to mount your ground station module with the included magnetic adapter
2. An Alta X with Here2 GPS, which is said to be fully RTK capable:
Two RTK GPS ground stations (one GPS module works for your rover and one for the ground station computer)
A radio for communication between the ground station computer and the Alta (FRX Pro, etc)
A tripod or something sturdy to which you can attach your ground station module using the included magnetic adapter
3. An Alta X with Here2 GPS and you just want to increase GPS performance:
An RTK GPS ground station for your Alta X
4. An Astro Base or Astro Map, and you want full RTK capability:
An RTK GPS ground station for your ground station computer
A tripod or something sturdy to which you can attach your ground station module using the included magnetic adapter
Hints
If your computer (MacBook Pro, etc.) does not have USB-A ports, you will need a USB-AC adapter or your own USB-C cable.
