Flags are primarily used to control natural or artificial light in indoor or outdoor shots. Flags are square or rectangular steel frames sewn with fabric and equipped with a 9.5mm diameter mounting pin welded to the steel frame for connecting a grip head (or gobo).
Flags are typically used with C-stands so you can move the flag into position to create contrast, change lighting conditions, add diffused light, or completely block light in certain areas.
