Mirage is an advanced next-generation matte box system designed for the modern videographer. It is ultra-light, multifunctional, modular and affordable. A perfect solution for modern and efficient video productions.
Equipped with a new standard 95mm clamp mount which can be mounted directly onto classic cinema lenses such as ARRI Ultra Primes, Leica Summicron-C, etc., but can also be adapted to more easily accessible DSLR and mirrorless lenses to support all video producers.
The advanced circular filter design is more cost-effective due to its lighter weight and smaller size, weighing only 1/4 of the conventional 4×5.65 filter.
The cartridge filter design, adopted from the film industry, replaces the traditional screw-on filter system and can be installed quickly with a single push. The system supports a variety of special effect round filters.
With the newly developed variable ND module (optional), which was developed in close cooperation with leading optics manufacturers, various configurations can be realized, the lightest of which weighs only 130g. Thanks to the new PL + CPL technology, the VND module can produce precise colors even at maximum density.
The variable ND value can be adjusted in steps to ensure consistent exposure even in unexpectedly changing lighting conditions. The module has built-in hard diaphragms between ND 0.3 and ND 2.7 to avoid the risk of X-Pattern Cross Shadow. Based on the Golden Ratio and optimized color reproduction, the variable ND has a larger axis between the filter elements to maximize the ND function. To avoid vignetting, use ND 0.3-2.1 for wide angle lenses and ND 2.1-2.7 for focal lengths over 35mm.
The VND module can be wirelessly controlled via a micro motor to adjust the ND level remotely, providing more flexibility when shooting. The standard wireless range is 100m and can be further extended by a wireless signal amplifier for aerial photography (optional).
The VND motor can be controlled with the new wireless controller (included in the VND + Motor Kit) as well as with Tilta's Nucleus series wireless follow focus systems.
The wireless controller is mounted via a NATO rail and can control both the Nucleus M & Nano Motor and the wireless motor for the Tilta Mirage.
If you choose the VND kit, you can use the included Nucleus Nano Motor Mount to attach a Nucleus Nano Motor directly to the VND module for wireless density adjustment. (optional accessory for other kits)
The Matte Box body features an aerodynamic design with integrated vents that reduce wind resistance and ensure stability when shooting subjects at high speeds, while the optional front guard provides additional protection for your filters.
The modular design allows for many creative configurations, including the use of an adhesive protector (optional) that can be applied to filters to prevent scratches and eliminate reflections.
Expand the Matte Box's 4×5.65 filter support with additional stackable filter trays (optional) to achieve even more advanced creative looks. Additional accessories will be available in the future to further expand the system's capabilities.
